Mexican Oilcloth is a cotton/poly-vinyl material which is waterproof, and very durable. This makes it a perfect material for use on all sorts of household products. The backing of the oilcloth is a white cotton webbing which is what gives the fabric a nice weight and extreme durability.
The fabric has been tested and passes the National Fire Protection Agency 701 classification for commercial and residential use.
Oilcloth is waterproof on both sides and stain resistant.
What is Chalkcloth?
Chalkcloth is a re-usable cotton/poly-backed vinyl fabric that acts like a chalkboard. You can write on it with chalk, and then erase with a dry or damp cloth.
How to take care of your Oilcloth/Chalkcloth products:
You can wipe both sides with a damp soapy sponge and dry with a soft cloth.
Machine washing or ironing is not recommended.
Constant exposure to the sun will cause the oilcloth to fade, however, if your product has wrinkles from folding or packing, you may set it out in the warm sun for a "short" period of time, and this will relax the wrinkles.
We always recommend that oilcloth/chalkcloth be rolled for storage whenever possible.
It is recommended that you "season" your Chalkcloth before use. You do this by taking the flat side of a piece of chalk and rub the entire surface of the Chalkcloth. Wipe clean with a damp sponge, repeat, and you are ready to write!
